The Golf Datatech retail market share programme provides accurate and timely data on market shares, sales units, sales values, inventories and distribution of golf balls, golf clubs (woods, irons, putters and wedges), golf bags, golf shoes and golf gloves for On Course and Off Course shops. Sales data is collected from each channel through a representative sample of retail outlets.
The sales and inventory data is collected via each shop's EPOS system, and includes for each sale: units sold actual selling price and inventory remaining. The information is transmitted to Golf Datatech on a monthly basis and combined with the total sample to insure confidentiality. This is the key to making the system work.
The On Course audit is conducted among a national network of green grass pro shops. These have been selected to insure an accurate representation of sales by type of course - public or private, and region.
The Off Course - golf specialty stores audit includes shops from national chains and franchises, individual owners with either multiple locations or single-units. The interface programs access their data are exclusive to Golf Datatech and have been written for the golf industry.
Golf Datatech and each shop owner enter into a confidentiality agreement whereby the shop owner is guaranteed protection by Golf Datatech and Golf Datatech is assured its reports will remain confidential by the shop owner/proprietor. All customers who purchase the reports also sign a confidentiality agreement.
